Who? The people in the forest, the faces behind the campaign, the photographers who capture the Great Bear's beauty.

Who lives in the Great Bear Rainforest?

There are a number of communities located in the resource-rich Great Bear Rainforest. For over 10 millennia First Nations people have inhabited the central and north coast of British Columbia, forming complex societies who were able to live off the vast wealth of the land and sea. The oldest settlement on the coast is believed to be Namu, located in Heltsiuk territory. According to archaelogists, Namu dates back 14,000 years. There are number indigenous Nations located in the Great Bear, for more information link to First Nations. Who works to protect the Great Bear Rainforest?

The forest campaigners who have been at the forefront of the Great Bear Rainforest campaign are in the Rainforest Solutions Project are Amanda Carr (Greenpeace), Lisa Matthaus (Sierra Club of Canad, BC Chapter) and Merran Smith (ForestEthics).
