Premier Campbell commits to Great Bear Rainforest Agreement in announcement to the world
Standing together with First Nations, the logging industry, local communities, and environmentalists the Government of British Columbia committed to protect one third of the Great Bear Rainforest from logging and to implement ecologically appropriate logging practices (Ecosystem-Based Management) in the entire region by March 31st 2009.
The Great Bear Rainforest will be saved when these agreements on paper become a reality on the ground. The logging industry must change their practices and governments must develop laws to govern these new logging practices.
