Provincial government will preserve 1.8 million hectares of B.C. coast
February 7, 2006
CKNW – Premier Gordon Campbell says the provincial government’s decision to preserve more than 1.8 million hectares of B.C.‘s central and north coasts represents an unprecedented collaboration.
Campbell announced this morning the region environmentalists call the Great Bear Rainforest is now protected, ensuring the survival of several species, including the spirit bear.
Campbell calls it a new vision for coastal B.C. and is an example of how government, First Nations, industry and environmentalists can manage the region to the benefit of all British Columbians.
